    Part Time Nurse Practitioner

    Job Description

    • Create and implement patient care plans and perform advanced nursing duties within boundaries of licensure.
    • Monitor progress of patients and intervene in the course of chronic illness.
    • Perform routine physical examinations of patients to determine control or status of chronic conditions and diagnose new conditions.
    • Evaluate acute and chronically ill patients and prescribe medications or administer treatment.
    • Complete discharge planning and follow-up care for clients, patients, youth, or inmates with chronic care and/or medical issues.
    • Perform minor surgery as training and competency allows.
    • Evaluate necessity for referral consultations inside or outside the institutional, facility, or correctional setting.
    • Order and review results of laboratory, x-ray, and other diagnostic testing.
    • Inoculate or vaccinate patients against communicable diseases.
    • Maintain required medical records by documenting medical information gathered during patient interviews according to agency guidelines, policies, protocols, and agency-professionally accredited standards.
    • Document assessments and diagnostic impressions including treatment plans and follow-up parameters.
    • Cooperate monthly with institutional Chief Medical Officer (CMO) or agency equivalent for medical quality oversight.
    • Provide clinical direction to registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, phlebotomists, and other caregivers.
    • Participate in professional and agency committees and meetings by attending professional institutional specific meetings as requested by warden, deputy warden, or chief medical officer.
    • Participate in continuous quality improvement measures and attend monthly meetings.
    • Attend quarterly medical meetings.
    • Serve as a resource for patients and families utilizing areas of clinical expertise and provide advice regarding health maintenance and promotion while identifying health risk factors.
    • Attend in-services and/or other continuing education offerings relative to growth and development as a nurse practitioner.

    Requirements

    • Valid license as Registered Nurse; completion of Nurse Practitioner program & certified by Ohio Board of Nursing for advanced practice with valid certificate of authority.
    • BLS/CPR certification.
    • Ohio Licensure.
