This professional provides planned and highly skilled nursing care for the immediate pre-operative and post-operative patients. Through continuous patient surveillance, allows for early recognition of medical or surgical complications, which may arise in any patient. Hours: PRN (as needed) Monday - Friday between the hours of 4:45am - 5:30pm. Shift times are variable, minimum requirement of 6 shifts in a rolling 3 month period. Admits patient to pre-op area, performs and documents assessments. Receives patient from surgery and evaluates needs of patient, administering care accordingly. Assesses and documents patient status. Evaluates nursing goals, care plan and outcomes. Performs pre and post-operative assessments and teaching. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed to practice in the State of Nebraska as a Registered Nurse. Current licensure from a compact state requires Nebraska to be declared as their primary state of residence within thirty (30) days and must also obtain a Nebraska temporary permit or nursing license. Current BLS required at time of hire. ACLS and PALS required within 90 days of employment. Previous post-surgical care experience preferred. The Surgical Technologist is specifically involved with the instrumentation and technical aspect of the operative event. Hours: Full-time, 80 hours per pay period (2 weeks), Monday - Friday, between the hours of 6:00 am - 7:00 pm. Job duties include but are not limited to: Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to implement principles of aseptic technique. Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility by performing scrub duties for a variety of surgical procedures Understanding of principles of surgical positioning. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment use and care. Knowledge of surgical procedures and basics of care including anesthesia and potential complications. Recognition of signs and symptoms of emergency situations and interventions Must be cognizant of and able to apply competencies in age based needs of patient populations served to include limitations in hearing, sight, comprehension and cognitive skills. Identifies selects and coordinates equipment and supplies required for scheduled procedure with circulating nurse. Assists in pulling required instrumentation, supplies and equipment. Assists in AM preparation of room with disinfectant, room turnover, cleaning and PM cleaning and restocking. Identifies supplies needing to be ordered. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program and current BLS certification required at time of hire. Must obtain Surgical Technologist Certification within six (6) months of employment.
