Bar Harbor is the largest town on Mount Desert Island, a bridge-connected island of more than 100 square miles home to world-famous Acadia National Park. With 50,000 acres of mountains and lakes, coastlines and campgrounds, and trails for hikers and climbers, Acadia offers unmatched recreation for all skill levels. Millions of visitors come each year for the scenery, and you can make this your home.

Renowned as both a tourist destination and cruise ship stop, Bar Harbor offers a wide variety of restaurants, shops, and cultural attractions from whale-watching cruises and local museums to The Jackson Laboratory, a globally respected genetics research center. Year-round recreation includes sailing, kayaking, biking, fishing, and golf, along with winter activities such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.

This is a terrific place for families, with highly rated schools and housing options on or off the island. Bar Harbor is just 75 minutes from Bangor, Maine's third largest city, with an international airport, shopping malls, a casino/hotel, symphony orchestra, riverfront festivals, and more.
