    Pediatric Hospitalist

    Augusta, Maine: A respected 190-bed regional medical center invites a full-time Pediatric Hospitalist to join an established team providing high-quality care for newborns and pediatric inpatients in Maine's state capital. This position offers flexible scheduling with daytime and nocturnist shifts available, modern facilities, and the opportunity to teach residents and medical students. The hospital is located just 50 minutes from Portland and the Maine coast.

    Job Description

    • Join a collaborative team of Pediatric Hospitalists providing care for well-newborns, Level II NICU patients, newborns requiring delivery attendance, and pediatric inpatients while also performing emergency department consults.
    • Candidates must be comfortable with neonatal resuscitation, newborn care, and stabilization of critically ill newborns while awaiting transfer to a tertiary care center.
    • Pediatric subspecialty and NICU or PICU support is available by phone from the state's two children's hospitals.
    • This service is supported by OB physicians and midwives, anesthesia personnel, emergency medicine providers, family practice physicians, and adult hospitalists.
    • Pediatric Hospitalists work independently on each shift with strong in-house and telephone support.
    • The average daily census is 4 to 6 patients, allowing time for in-depth, family-centered care.
    • Teaching is an important part of this role, with 1 to 2 learners typically on service during weekdays.
    • J1 and H1B visa sponsorship is available, with all expenses covered.
