    Community Overview

Northern Maine is a wonderful place to live and work. Presque Isle is the largest city in Aroostook County, the largest county east of the Mississippi. This growing community has highly rated local schools, particularly the magnet school for students gifted in math and science, which ranks in the top 20 schools in the nation. Three colleges have branches in Presque Isle, and the University of Maine's multi-million-dollar Recreation and Wellness Center has an indoor pool and climbing wall, offering athletic programs for all ages.

This rural region enjoys a picturesque four-season environment with abundant wildlife including moose, deer, and bald eagles. Seasonal visitors come to enjoy a quiet summer retreat, the spectacular colors of autumn, or a winter adventure. Enjoy breathtaking sunsets on area lakes, camping and hiking in peaceful forests, hunting and fishing, canoeing and kayaking on lakes and rivers, hiking and biking on paths for all skill levels, plus skiing or snowmobiling or dog sledding across groomed trails.

The commercial airport in Presque Isle offers direct flights to Newark daily. Many residents of northern Maine enjoy visiting Canada (Quebec City is a scenic 4-hour drive), while Bangor (Maine's third largest city, with 100K people and an international airport) is a 2.5-hour drive south.
