Physical Medicine and Rehab Physician

As the county hospital system, JPS has been serving the residents of Tarrant County for over 100 years. Job Description
- Provide inpatient consult and outpatient medical management of neuromuscular disorders, musculoskeletal trauma, deformity or amputation, TBI, spinal cord injuries, or other disabling conditions.
- Perform electrodiagnosis including electromyography, nerve conduction studies, or ultrasound/neuro-sonography.
- Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans.
- Oversee and coordinate rehabilitation therapies, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
- Manage spasticity/dystonia and other related conditions using a variety of treatment modalities including Botox injections (management of baclofen pumps is optional).
- Train and supervise medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Educate patients and their families about conditions and rehabilitation processes.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in research and educational initiatives within the department.
Requirements
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Board eligible or board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
- Valid medical license in the state of practice.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in a clinical rehabilitation setting is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience highly preferred.
- Unrestricted Texas Medical License and DEA certificate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be comfortable working in a large public/county facility.
- Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge in the area assigned, and competency in assessment techniques, diagnosis, and treatment processes that apply to the assigned medical specialty area.
- Must be knowledgeable of advanced techniques and theories in medicine for primary specialty.
- Must have good interpersonal, verbal, and oral communication skills to work effectively with other healthcare professionals and serve as a resource to the community.
- Must be self-directed and take initiative to develop and participate in community activities and medical outreach programs pertaining to the medical specialty area.
- Must be able to demonstrate patient-centered/patient-valued behavior.
