Job Description

• Under the direction and supervision of the surgeon, the Cardiovascular Surgery PA-C or APRN-RNFA will perform cardiovascular surgical preparation procedures, peri-operative and post-operative procedures, and assist in performing cardiovascular surgical procedures.
• Provide patients and families with pre-operative education, answering questions regarding surgery, recovery, and risk factor modification.
• Obtain and perform history and physical examinations.
• Record and interpret pertinent data (labs, diagnostic studies, discharge summaries, progress notes, etc.), including writing orders and discharges.
• First assist in cardiovascular surgery, vein and radial artery harvesting, first assisting with CABG, valve, aortic, and thoracic surgery.
• Ability to perform general peri-surgical procedures in the hospital and clinic.
• Admit patients, attend rounds, complete discharge summaries with medication reconciliation and appropriate follow-up.
• Manage patients both pre- and post-implantation for Ventricular Assist Devices and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation.
• Manage patients undergoing Trans Catheter Valve Procedures.
