    Anesthesiologist Locum

    Join our team as an Anesthesiologist Locum in Plattsburgh, NY, where you will cover bread and butter surgical cases as the primary anesthesiologist. This position requires a collegial approach within a multi-disciplinary OR team.

    Job Description

    • Call specifics: 1st and 2nd call from 7 am to 7 pm, plus call from 7 pm to 7 am; 3rd call is from 7 am to 7 pm on regular weekday hourly shifts; 4th call is from 7 am to 5:30 pm on regular weekday hourly shifts; weekend days and OR holidays require on-call for 24 hours from 7 am to 7 am.
    • Cover two consecutive weeks per month and fill in when the other locum isn't scheduled.
    • Temp privileges can be requested for locums with a clean file, no malpractice, and no work gaps. The need will be ongoing until permanent replacements are secured. Board Certified or Board Eligible candidates will be considered.
    • Location: Champlain Valley (CVPH) in Plattsburgh, NY.
    • Work involves covering bread and butter surgical cases, primarily orthopedic and general surgery cases. Call includes OB, and being on call is a must; must be within 15 minutes of the facility.
    • Anticipated procedures/surgeries: approximately 4-5 cases per day.
    • Breakdown of OR days: 100% OR and L&D; there are 9 main ORs constructed approximately 18 years ago. This is strictly OR work with no clinic responsibilities.
    • Schedule: Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm, plus on-call as agreed upon.
    • Required procedures: All bread and butter surgeries; no CT, neuro, or cranial cases.
    • Preferred procedures: OB/Gyn, orthopedic, general surgery, plastic surgery, vascular, colorectal surgery, ENT, GI, and urology.
    • Pain management or regional blocks: Yes to regional blocks for OR cases; no outpatient pain management.
    • Patient load: Approximately 700-800 deliveries per year with a case load of 4-5 cases per day.
    • Number of MDs in the practice: Approximately 15, including per diems.
    • Additional surgical staff includes 2 CRNAs, anesthesia techs, PAs, nurses, and OR techs. There are no AA's in the practice.
    • Joining a mid-sized group; rarely supervise a CRNA.
    • Trauma level of work location: Level III with ACS.
    • EMR system: EPIC.
