    Family Medicine Physician

    Join our team at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) as a Family Medicine Physician. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide full-spectrum Family Medicine care in a collaborative environment focused on patient-centered, evidence-based outcomes.

    Job Description

    • Provide outpatient clinical and procedural services in a cost-effective manner.
    • Collaborate with staff and other clinical departments to facilitate excellent patient care.
    • Participate fully as a member of the 99 MDG medical staff.
    • Deliver routine general family medicine care, including preventive medicine and management of acute and chronic conditions, musculoskeletal issues, pediatrics, and women's health.
    • Complete medical records documentation within 72 business hours of patient encounters.
    • Attend and participate in meetings, professional staff conferences, and other professional activities such as quality improvement meetings and commander's staff meetings.
    • Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergency problems as they occur.
    • Maintain coding accuracy (CPT/E&M/procedure) at 90% or higher.
    • Familiarize with Department of Defense (DoD), Federal, State, and non-profit healthcare systems, including TRICARE and the Veterans Administration (VA).
    • Provide ongoing education programs to promote and maintain optimum levels of wellness.
    • Offer health counseling to patients and their families, developing health maintenance plans based on individual needs.
    • Instruct, coach, mentor, and train medical residents, physician assistant students, and medical students during clinical rotations and outpatient discussions.
    • Perform administrative duties, including maintaining statistical records of clinical workload and participating in quality improvement functions.
    • See new patients and established follow-up clinic visits, participating in telehealth and virtual encounters as well as responding to telephone consults.
    • Ensure productivity meets current Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) standards for Nellis Air Force Base.
    • Possess knowledge of current TRICARE standards, population-based healthcare, disease management, and medically-oriented computer systems.
    • Ensure patient and staff safety through safety awareness and proper infection control.
    • Develop long-term management strategies, providing clinical and administrative leadership in patient care coordination.
    • Coordinate patient care with community health agencies and social programs to facilitate continuity of care.
