Patient Care Assistant

Join our team at Twinsburg City Schools as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA). This position involves providing continuous observation and individual care for a group of patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse.

Job Description

• Provide continuous, one-on-one observation and monitoring of assigned patients.
• Provide evidence-based de-escalation interventions.
• Maintain a safe environment for self, patients, and others.
• Remain alert and attentive at all times to ensure the safety and well-being of the patient.
• Provide direct patient care such as vital signs and transporting patients to other departments as delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Stock linens and supplies.
• Document observations, interventions, and any pertinent information accurately and in a timely manner within EPIC.
• Prioritize and execute tasks for the assigned patients in a timely and efficient manner.
• Alert nursing staff promptly to any signs of distress, discomfort, or changes in the patient's condition.
• Maintain a calm and professional presence for the patient and their family members.
• Follow all hospital or facility protocols and procedures related to patient observation and safety.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Knowledge of and experience in medical terminology preferred.
• Experience working in a healthcare environment is preferred.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
• Experience working in an electronic medical record (i.e. EPIC) or similar software is preferred.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) training from the American Heart Association is required.
• Minimum one (1) year of relevant experience is preferred.

Work Schedule

• 1:1 with student
• 6 hours a day
• Monday-Thursday
