Behavioral Health Unit
Join our team as a Staff Nurse in the Behavioral Health Unit, working part-time (24 hours/week) during the night shift from 7 PM to 7:30 AM. This position is onsite and offers an opportunity to provide specialized nursing care.
Job Description
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and direct nursing care with a focus on family-centered care for individuals or groups of patients within the assigned scope of practice.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of the patients served, regardless of age and developmental status.
- Perform leadership and professional duties.
- Provide patient-centered care.
- Engage in quality improvement and safety duties.
- Participate in the development and education for staff members on clinically related issues; may be responsible for precepting new employees and acting as a mentor to clinical staff.
- Conduct evidence-based practice duties.
- Support the provider staff and actively promote collaboration for efficient operation and quality care, ensuring legendary customer service for pediatric patients using a team approach.
- Perform systems-based practice duties.
- Carry out informatics and technology duties.
- Be prepared to be temporarily assigned to an area throughout the Akron Children's Hospital enterprise based on patient needs requiring similar knowledge and skill.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required or must be obtained within 5 years from the date of hire.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support training from the American Heart Association is required. Additional certifications may be required based on the assigned department or unit.
- A valid, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Ohio is required. This must be a Multistate License (MSL) for departments that provide telenursing services or care to patients outside the state of Ohio.
- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience is preferred.
Technical Expertise
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, guidance, and motivation to other staff members with an emphasis on working as a collaborative team to provide quality service to patients and their families.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills are required.
- Strong organizational skills are required.
- Ability to work well under pressure to prioritize and complete required tasks and responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner.
- Experience working with various levels within an organization is required.
- Experience in healthcare is preferred.
- Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
- Experience working with an electronic medical record system (i.e., EPIC) or similar software is preferred.
