Medical Director
UC Merced seeks a Medical Director for a dynamic leadership opportunity to work alongside a mission-driven student health team in Merced, CA. Lead student-centered care with the scope to build and innovate. The Medical Director will guide a close-knit, multidisciplinary team and oversee AAAHC reaccreditation in 2028. This role is 80% administrative (including 20% quality improvement) and 20% clinical with no call or inpatient duties.
Job Description

- Collaborate closely across departments with strong campuswide support
- Bring growth-minded energy to expand services on a newer campus
- Join a peer leadership team of 5 at this level, reporting to Dr. Sekhon, Associate Vice Chancellor and Executive Director, Health & Well-Being
- Partner closely with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
- Innovate to improve systems for access, care coordination, and program growth
- Thrive on a small, close-knit campus where teammates switch hats and support one another
- Lead an 80% administrative portfolio with 20% dedicated to quality improvement (QI)
- Oversee peer review, staff credentialing, and serve on the governing body
- Drive Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) reaccreditation in 2028
- Lead quality improvement and risk assessment across Student Health Services
- Supervise a multidisciplinary team currently comprised of 2 Family Medicine physicians, 1 Psychiatrist, 1 Psych NP, 3 primary care NPs, 1 PA, 1 RN Manager, and 1 IT
