Obstetric Anesthesiologist
The Department of Anesthesiology at UT Health San Antonio, Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, is seeking a fellowship-trained (or equivalent) Obstetric Anesthesiologist for a full-time faculty position. The successful candidate will provide high-quality anesthetic care at the new, state-of-the-art University Health Women's and Children's Hospital, along with other affiliated clinical sites.
Job Description
- Faculty rank commensurate with experience
- Opportunity to practice in a leading academic health science center
- Involvement in both clinical care and academic activities in obstetric anesthesiology
- Participate in weekday and weekend call coverage (voluntary basis)
- Supervise and mentor Residents and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs)
- Engage in medical student and resident education through bedside teaching, didactics, simulation, and workshops
- Contribute to departmental and institutional committees
- Provide mentorship to 1-2 residents annually
- Maintain scholarly engagement and stay current with advances in anesthesiology
Requirements
- MD, DO, or international equivalent
- Completed 48 months of Anesthesiology Residency, or 12 months of Preliminary plus 36 months of Anesthesiology Residency
- Board certified or board eligible in Anesthesiology
- Eligible for a Texas Medical License
- Valid DEA registration
- ACLS certified or in the process of certification
- Participation in Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA), if applicable
Benefits
- Base salary starting at $408,000 (for weekday 8-hour shifts; flexible scheduling options available)
- Additional pay for call and extended shifts; home call stipends provided
- Average total compensation: $459,000 - $537,000 (varies by rank, call, and subspecialty); higher earning potential possible
