    Anatomic Pathologist - Academic Appointment

    In partnership with the University of Arizona Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, the team with Banner University Medical Group is actively interviewing Anatomic Pathologists with Gastrointestinal or Cytopathology expertise preferred, to join our growing Clinical Faculty at Banner University Medical Center in sunny Tucson, Arizona! This role offers the opportunity to engage in a full spectrum of diagnostic pathology services across multiple Tucson locations—including the NCI-designated Arizona Cancer Center, additional Centers of Excellence, and the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System.

    Join our team in playing a key role in supporting the mission of the College of Medicine to bring about better health with improving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases for the people of Southern Arizona through undergraduate, graduate, medical and post-graduate education, research, and patient care. The selected candidate will receive an academic appointment at the University of Arizona that is commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will combine teaching (medical students, pathology residents and fellows), semi-specialized surgical pathology clinical practice, and scholarly activities at Banner University Medical Center Tucson. The College of Medicine is vibrantly located in close vicinity to the Colleges of Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health as well as the University of Arizona Cancer Center. Contiguous space is shared with the Banner University Medical Center Tucson, which is a 463-bed general medical and surgical facility with more than 25,000 admissions, 70,000 ED visits, and 14,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries on an annual basis. BUMCT is a level 1 trauma center and is home to an NCI-designated Cancer Center, which performs cutting-edge research and patient care. The Cancer Center also holds accreditations as a National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and a National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC). Banner University Medical Center Tucson performs bone marrow and stem cell transplantations and organ transplants, including heart, lung, kidney, kidney/pancreas, and liver.

    Job Description

    • Full-Time, 1.0 FTE Monday-Friday schedule
    • Anatomic Pathology Diagnostic Service, including:
      • Frozen section/intraoperative consultations
      • Subspecialty Case Review: interpretation of surgical pathology specimens
    • Teach and mentor residents, fellows, and medical students
    • Participate in translational research and scholarly activities (Clinical Scholar track)
    • 1:8 Call Rotation: night and weekend, Anatomic Pathology call only
    • Modern hospital (built 2019) with state-of-the-art laboratories

    Requirements

    • MD/DO and State of Arizona Medical License upon start
    • American Board of Pathology certified (or eligible) in Anatomic Pathology
    • Sub-specialization in Cytopathology or Gastroenterology is preferred, but not required
