    About the job

    Plastic and Reconstruction Surgeon

In partnership with the University of Arizona, the Department of Surgery at Banner - University Medicine Tucson is now interviewing plastic surgeons passionate about breast reconstruction and the care of patients with breast cancer. This is a unique opportunity to build a world-class breast reconstruction program at the University of Arizona Cancer Center, the only NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in Arizona. Work with new faculty in breast surgery and breast oncology to develop innovative care pathways for patients with breast cancer and prepare them for long-term survivorship and optimized quality of life.

The University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) is located in Tucson, a global wellness destination with Canyon Ranch, Miraval Spa, and the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine all located within minutes of the campus. Tucson itself is a wonderful place to live with year-round recreational opportunities, miles of mountainous hiking trails, excellent schools, and a reasonable cost of living.

The UACC is part of the Banner Health system, which comprises over 34 hospitals and is the leading integrated healthcare system in the Southwest. Patient care locations include a brand new 600-bed state-of-the-art hospital, a new ambulatory clinic and infusion center, and an aesthetic surgery center located in the Catalina Foothills, one of the most rapidly growing regions in the state. As clinical volume grows, it is anticipated that additional surgeons will be added to the practice.

We are seeking an individual with the vision and passion to provide state-of-the-art care and develop new reconstructive paradigms for breast cancer patients. Substantial institutional and departmental resources are available to build programs in translational research, health services research, clinical trials, drug and device innovation, population health, health care disparities, clinical fellowships, and other areas of interest.

The successful candidate should have completed a microsurgery fellowship and can be at any academic rank. Compensation is extremely competitive with substantial productivity incentives.
