Quality Assurance RN Nurse
Bishop Rehabilitation & Nursing Center is seeking a full-time Quality Assurance RN Nurse to join our clinical team at our long-term care facility in Syracuse, NY.
Job Description
- The Quality Assurance RN plays a key role in maintaining and improving the quality of care provided to our residents.
- This position is responsible for implementing and monitoring the facility's Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program, ensuring compliance with NYS Department of Health, CMS regulations, and industry best practices.
- Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing, the QA RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to promote clinical excellence and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Monitor nursing practices and provide feedback, coaching, and support to nursing staff to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Participate in audits and analyze data from CASPER reports, PointRight, survey outcomes, and internal assessments to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare QAPI reports, contribute to monthly QA meeting minutes, and follow up on action plans.
- Support the Director of Nursing in coordinating and evaluating staff development and education programs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote compliance and high-quality care.
- Maintain accurate records for quality metrics, infection control, and wound care programs.
- Serve as a resource for clinical staff, providing guidance on best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in state surveys and follow-up processes as needed.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration among all departments to improve patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited RN program.
- Current RN license in New York State.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred; Master's degree a plus.
- CPR certification required.
- Experience in long-term care, quality improvement, or nursing leadership strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control, wound care, emergency preparedness, and nursing compliance regulations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Must demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and high ethical standards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday (sit, stand, bend, lift).
- Must be emotionally stable and able to handle stress effectively.
- Ability to lift supplies/equipment and tolerate exposure to common workplace substances, odors, or infectious materials.
