Job Description

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process and support unit coordination activities to promote safe, high-quality outcomes.
• Serve as a resource to staff and assist with scheduling, education, and performance initiatives.
• Float to all areas within surgery, especially the OR.
• Coordinate staff scheduling, educational/development activities, and performance evaluations.
• Identify and resolve issues affecting delivery of clinical services and patient flow.
• Perform quality assurance studies and assist with implementation of QA/QI initiatives.
• Serve as a resource to staff and external contacts regarding clinical standards, policies, and procedures.
• Monitor departmental compliance with accreditation, legal, and The Joint Commission requirements.
• Provide direct patient care as needed in accordance with scope and standards of practice.
• Participate in performance improvement and continuing education.
• Provide quality patient care and work other shifts/units as needed; may be assigned on-call.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current state RN license.
• Associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school.
• 1-2 years minimum experience as a Surgery RN.
• 2-4 years critical care experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually.
• TNCC preferred.
