Job Description
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process and support unit coordination activities to promote safe, high-quality outcomes.
- Serve as a resource to staff and assist with scheduling, education, and performance initiatives.
- Float to all areas within surgery, especially the OR.
- Coordinate staff scheduling, educational/development activities, and performance evaluations.
- Identify and resolve issues affecting delivery of clinical services and patient flow.
- Perform quality assurance studies and assist with implementation of QA/QI initiatives.
- Serve as a resource to staff and external contacts regarding clinical standards, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor departmental compliance with accreditation, legal, and The Joint Commission requirements.
- Provide direct patient care as needed in accordance with scope and standards of practice.
- Participate in performance improvement and continuing education.
- Provide quality patient care and work other shifts/units as needed; may be assigned on-call.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current state RN license.
- Associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school.
- 1-2 years minimum experience as a Surgery RN.
- 2-4 years critical care experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire.
- Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually.
- TNCC preferred.
