    Special Procedures Technologist

    Job Description

    • Perform invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures and ensure the operation and quality assurance of film processing, patient monitoring, and x-ray equipment.
    • Participate in daily activities of the section by assisting as a scrub, float, and imaging technologist.
    • Fully competent to perform all procedures within the Special Procedures section of Radiology, demonstrating competency and efficiency in the treatment, care, and interaction with all patients, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
    • Operate equipment with full technical competence.
    • Serve as a liaison between the floor nurse, unit secretary, and attending physicians regarding orders, procedures, scheduling, and status of procedures.
    • Assess patients, review charts for orders and lab results, and communicate with the Interventionalist regarding availability of necessary information.
    • Prepare patients for procedures and answer questions within the scope of practice.
    • Provide a safe environment concerning radiation exposure, contrast administration, and infection control guidelines.
    • Maintain accurate records of patient care and ensure proper patient billing for services.
    • Engage in professional growth by staying updated on current methodologies, equipment, and techniques.
    • Maintain exceptional guest relations with patients, visitors, hospital staff, and medical staff using AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you).
    • Actively participate in the clinical education of student technologists.
    • Monitor quality of care based on ongoing assessments and participate in departmental performance improvement projects.
    • Help the department reach patient satisfaction goals by providing quality care and timely procedures.
    • Promote teamwork within the department by assisting in all areas and using effective communication.

    Requirements

    • ARRT (R) required. Cardiovascular Interventional (CV) or Vascular Interventional (VI) registry required. VI registry eligible individuals must acquire registry within two years.
    • AHA (American Heart Association) CPR Certification provided through Cape Fear Valley Training & Development only.
    • Required Licenses and Certifications: RT(R)(CI)(VI) - American Registry Of Radiologic Technologists.

    Benefits

    • $15,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance available.
    • Pay: $24.18 - $40.00 per hour.
    • Expected hours: 36 per week.
