Charge Nurse

We need a Charge Nurse to join our team at Birchwood in Hamilton, OH. You'll assist the Nursing supervisor in the responsibility for the total patient care within the nursing unit and the management of the unit.

Job Description

• Administrative and patient care
• Supervising and overseeing STNAs
• Ensuring personnel, medical staff, patients, and the public abide by departmental policies
• Working on the unit designated by the D.O.N., A.D.O.N, or Supervisor
• Checking 24-hour report sheet for changes/updates in patient care needs
• Making walking rounds, supervising N.A. care
• Administering medication (including IV) and treatment per Physician's orders
• Attempting to meet the spiritual and psychological needs of patients with the resources available
• Assisting with and directing the patient admission/discharge process
• Giving and receiving reports with oncoming staff at the beginning and change of shift
• Taking and transcribing physician orders
• Answering telephone inquiries
• Evaluating patient care needs/condition while developing and adding to existing individual plans of care
• Handling patient admission process in the absence of the documentation nurse
• Verifying physician orders
• Transcribing pre-admission information
• Arranging diagnostic and therapeutic needs inside and outside of the facility
• Ordering medication/treatment
• Communicating patient needs to dietary
• Completing necessary admission paperwork
• Transferring and discharging patients
• Arranging transportation
• Communicating with family/responsible party
• Completing appropriate paperwork
• Maintaining appropriate documentation in the patient electronic medical record
• Directing and assisting with cleaning and care of equipment/appliances
• Communicating with all departments
• Overall safety and cleanliness of the unit
• Greeting and directing visitors to the unit

Requirements

• A valid nursing license in the state of Ohio
• Met the required continuing education hours per licensure period
• Good physical and mental health
• A positive attitude and a passion for working with the elderly
• Willingness to perform non-professional duties
• A level head to take or give direction in an emergency situation
• Willingness to place patient needs above your own
• Willingness to advocate for patient wellbeing
