Registered Nurse (RN)
$10,000 sign-on bonus with a 3-year commitment for external applicants only.
Position Highlights
- Number of beds on unit: 12
- Patient population: Over 18 years old. Open ICU that cares for anyone requiring a higher level of care.
- Nurse to patient ratio: 1:2
- Department culture and resources: The department culture is focused on providing high-quality care with the best outcomes for the patient. The nurses work with an interdisciplinary team to meet the needs of the patients and their families. Resources include intensivists, dietary, respiratory, therapy services, pharmacy, and other specialties based on patient needs.
- Frequent nursing skills/equipment used: Nursing skills include assessment, IV, drawing labs, managing drips, managing ventilators, preventing hospital-acquired conditions, and completing admissions/transfers/discharges. Equipment includes IV pump, SCD machine, ventilator, balloon pump, dialysis machines, bedside monitors, invasive monitoring, and cardiac monitoring.
Qualifications
- Certifications: BLS within 30 days, ACLS within 1 year
- Education: Nursing diploma
- Work experience: RN with 2+ years
Responsibilities
- Perform all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service.
- Implement procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
- Complete initial assessment upon patient admission and develop an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs.
- Implement plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modify plan of care based upon continuous evaluation.
- Take responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
- Communicate with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. Offer constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confer with colleagues to expand knowledge base.
- Identify own learning needs and take initiative to begin appropriate solutions.
- Fulfill all requirements of departmental competencies.
- Ensure good communication with patients/family by utilizing meaningful hourly rounding, bedside report, and whiteboards.
- Work with ventilated patients for early mobility.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure the best outcomes.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $31.65 per hour - $54.44 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
