Psychiatrist
The Psychiatrist at Worcester County Detention Center, Snow Hill MD, will be responsible for the delivery of psychotherapy, diagnostic, and therapeutic services in a contract facility. The Psychiatrist will also act as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team and a liaison with other medical disciplines. This is a per diem position.
The Psychiatrist diagnoses and treats patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, organizes data concerning the patient's family, medical history, and onset of symptoms obtained from the patient, relatives, and other sources, such as nurses and social workers.
The role involves examining patients to determine their general physical condition, following standard medical procedures. The Psychiatrist will order laboratory and other special diagnostic tests and evaluate the data obtained. They will determine the nature and extent of mental disorders and formulate treatment programs, treating or directing the treatment of patients utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
Job Description

- Organize data concerning patient’s family, medical history, and onset of symptoms.
- Examine patients to determine general physical condition.
- Order laboratory and other special diagnostic tests and evaluate data obtained.
- Determine the nature and extent of mental disorders and formulate treatment programs.
- Treat or direct treatment of patients utilizing various psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
Requirements

- Basic computer skills.
- Proficiency in the use of Electronic Medical Records.
- Ability to command the respect and confidence of inmates and staff; philosophically committed to the objectives of the facility.
- Strong knowledge of general medicine and psychotherapy, current developments in psychology, hospital and clinic organization, management, and procedures.
- Capable of preparing written reports and handling legal depositions and court hearings.
- Maintains an active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
- Must have an unrestricted and valid prescriptive authority with Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS).

- Follow facility and CFG Health Systems Occurrence Protocol.
- Adhere to PREA and HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain security clearance for the assigned facility.
- Identify and utilize appropriate channels of communication with supervising staff.
