    Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

    Job Description

    • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the CV ICU and acute inpatient CV units.
    • Act as a first assist in CV surgery cases in the operating room. Vein harvesting experience preferred.
    • Follow established nursing standards, procedures, and practices to give patient care directions to nursing and other staff.
    • Evaluate the outcomes of direct patient care and consult with specialists as necessary.
    • Adjust nursing care processes to optimize patient outcomes and provide the highest standard of care.
    • Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered for patients.
    • Monitor and ensure the accuracy of patient medical records.
    • Provide preventative health care services to long-term patients and coordinate consultations and referrals as required.
    • Perform physical exams and prescribe treatments and medications within scope of practice.

    Requirements

    • Advanced nursing degree or master's degree required.
    • Current Texas State Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) license or PA license.
    • Certification in Basic Life Support (CPR), American Heart Association.
    • Experience in the specialty area (CV ICU, CV OR).
    • Experience in both clinical and management areas.
    • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and market services effectively.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong team-oriented approach and interdepartmental collaboration based on Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) principles.
