    Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

    As a Registered Nurse in our Emergency Department at CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline Hospital, you will be a highly skilled and trained medical professional who plays a vital role in the hospital. You will be responsible for providing immediate and efficient care to patients who are experiencing life-threatening injuries or illnesses. ER Nurses must have a strong knowledge base in emergency medicine, critical care, and trauma care to provide the best possible care to patients in emergency situations. ER Nurses work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment and must be able to quickly assess and stabilize patients and then decide on the best course of treatment.

    Job Description

    • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
    • Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
    • Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.
    • Using the appropriate protocol, administers medications and treatments; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of the treatment prescribed.
    • Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
    • Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
    • 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
    • BLS required.
    • RN License in state of employment or compact.
    • Current ACLS certification required.
    • Current PALS certification required.
    • Current TNCC certification required.

    Position Requirements

    • All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
    • New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member and initial onboarding requirements are validated through successful completion of the designated organizational entry competency validation and an Emergency Department-specific competency validation.
    • All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation. Skills completion and competency completion will be achieved with the preceptor at the bedside and documented through the program's tracking software.
    • Completion of all annual competency verification requirements.
