Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Cookeville Regional Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team at our Gastroenterology Clinic.

Hours: Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Job Description

• Under the direct or indirect supervision of a licensed physician, the Advanced Nurse Clinician/Physician Assistant assesses patients' medical/surgical conditions, administers treatments under physician orders or in conformity with usual practice, and advises and counsels patients or their legal guardian of patient problems.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the psychosocial needs, clinical assessment implications, and/or consequences of technology.

Requirements

• Masters in Medical Science required.
• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing Masters program or Masters of Medical Science Physician Assistant Studies.
• Evidence of continuing education.
• Current unrestricted Tennessee licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse and RN or Physician's Assistant.
• Must hold a national certification in a nursing specialty area.
• BLS Healthcare Provider required.
• Prescriptive Authority (DEA Number), proficient in clinical skills of assessment of critically ill patients.
• Skills required but not limited to: intubation, central line placement, arterial line placement, and ventilator management.
• Abides by agreed-upon protocol for patient care and possesses excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of computer use.

Experience Requirements

• 1 to 3 years in healthcare/medical as a Nurse Practitioner preferred or previous experience as an RN in ICU considered.
