Adult Primary Care Physician Outpatient (University-Based Practice)

Our Adult Primary Care, the flagship university-based adult primary care practice, is seeking an Adult Primary Care Physician for outpatient coverage. This is a collaborative, team-based environment located on the main university campus with immediate access to labs, imaging, and specialty services.

The physician will provide high-quality adult primary care with strong clinical and administrative support, allowing for efficient workflows and excellent patient care.

Job Description

• Shifts: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Lunch: 1-hour unpaid
• Work Week:
  • 32 hours of scheduled clinic time
  • 8 hours of paid administrative time
  • Total: 40 hours/week
• Patient Volume:
  • Approximately 18 patients per day or 70 patients per week
  • Standard 4-hour clinic sessions templated for 8 to 10 patients
• Visit Lengths:
  • 30 minutes for standard visits
  • 45 minutes for new patient visits (not expected to be routine)
  • Occasional 15-minute visits for selected urgent care issues

Practice Model & Support

• Team-based care model
• 1:1 Medical Assistant support
  • MAs are highly skilled in Epic and perform advanced rooming, including:
    • Medication reconciliation
    • Care gap assistance
    • Order pending
    • Immunization administration
    • Checkout and other clinical tasks
• Assigned administrative assistant
• Nursing support:
  • 8 nurses providing triage and floor support
• Advanced Practice Providers:
  • 8 APPs; physicians are linked with an APP
• Residents:
  • 30 medical residents with optional teaching involvement
• In-basket management:
  • Messages are routed through pooled workflows and addressed prior to reaching providers

Onsite & Embedded Resources

• Onsite Psychiatrist, Psychologist, and Social Worker
• Embedded Rheumatologist
• Embedded pharmacists
• Easy access to lab and imaging services
• Same-day fast-track CT scans available
• Large central resident precepting room with attending support
• Highly collaborative environment with readily available clinical assistance

Technology

• EMR: Epic
• Dictation: Dragon available
• Epic experience preferred

Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Active Massachusetts medical license preferred
• DEA and CSR required
