Day Kimball Health is hiring for a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our Maternal Child Health department in Putnam, CT!

Job Description

• Assist with the nursing care of the patient in the operating room by performing routine and delegated duties according to policies and standards of the hospital and department.
• Scrub and set up instrumentation.
• Maintain aseptic technique at all times.
• Maintain awareness of safety hazards and use of equipment to prevent damages or harm to personnel and patient.
• Assist with and anticipate the needs of the surgeon for instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies.
• Maintain correct count of sponges and needles with the circulating nurse and report correctness and discrepancies.
• Observe and protect the patient before, during, and after the procedure.
• Cover call as policy dictates.
• Flexibility in adjusting duty hours to meet needs of department.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Completion of approved Operating Room Technician Program required.
• Certification as Operating Room Technician required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Assist the surgeon as scrub technician according to established policies and standards.
• Assist the circulating RN as necessary.
• Assist in maintenance, care, and cleanliness of supplies and surgical suite.
• Cover call as assigned.
• Maintain and increase standards of performance and education.
