Locum Pediatrician

We have a new locum Pediatrician need in Merced, CA. This position offers an hourly rate plus travel expenses in an FQHC setting at an outpatient clinic.

Job Description

• Credentialing takes approximately 3 weeks.
• Start date is 10/13/25.
• The position is for a 3-month contract (12 weeks).
• Schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with admin time built into these hours.
• Patient volume is approximately 24 patients per day; 29 are scheduled, but there is a 20% no-show rate. Walk-ins and same-day appointments are also welcome if there is a high no-show rate, potentially increasing to 29 patients per day.
• Procedures include full scope general pediatrics, with circumcisions included. Bread and butter pediatrics are expected. The Pediatrician will need to be flexible with covering different locations if needed.
• EMR used is EPIC.
• A California license is required.
• Certifications must include board-certified or truly board-eligible; non-boarded physicians will not be considered.
• Relevant experience requires a minimum of 2-3 years of pediatric experience.

Additional Information

• Pediatricians will be scheduled with their own Medical Assistants (MAs). There will be one MA scheduled with them, and the MA is a float.
• There are additional sites/locations for pediatrics, and the locum will need to be comfortable switching locations if absolutely necessary.
• There is a 3-week ramp-up period for EPIC training.
• 75% of the population is Spanish-speaking and Filipino. Interpreter lines and virtual translation services are available. Most of the permanent staff is Spanish-speaking or able to understand Spanish.
