    RN - New Graduate Nurse - Med/Surg/Telemetry/Progressive Care/Acuity Adaptable Unit

    Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

    Job Description

    • Provide clinical care and coordination skills to every patient served in the Acuity Adaptable Progressive Care Unit using the Eskenazi Health model of care, Synergy.
    • Coordinate with the patient, family/loved ones, and other healthcare disciplines to ensure care is appropriate to patient care needs.
    • Participate in the Linda Hojnacki, RN, Nurse Residency Program designed for acute care nurses with less than one year of experience and graduate nurses.
    • Care for complex patients and increasing acuity needs common in hospital settings.
    • Work in an environment that values nurses and is invested in their success for improved patient safety and quality of care.
    • Provide services from a wide variety of clinical specialties including orthopedics, oncology, cardiology, palliative care, neurology, trauma, medicine, renal, urology, pulmonology, infectious disease, and more.
    • Utilize a primary care nursing model with a typical 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio.
    • Engage in a 12-week orientation period paired with a preceptor and receive continued support from managers, clinical educators, and seasoned staff.

    Requirements

    • Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited college/university required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
    • Current Indiana license as a Registered Nurse or eligibility for license.
    • BLS certification required (can be obtained during onboarding training).
    • ACLS Certification required (can be obtained during onboarding training).
    • NIH Certification required (can be obtained during onboarding training).

    Essential Responsibilities

    • Utilize the nursing process to perform all nursing functions efficiently and in accordance with policies, procedures, Indiana State Practice Act, and Eskenazi Health Model of Care.
    • Engage patients & loved ones with appropriate health information and education in a timely manner.
    • Handle emergency situations in a prompt, calm, and professional manner.
    • Participate in own professional development by maintaining required competencies and seeking appropriate assistance and educational offerings.
    • Maintain safe patient care and advocate for patient safety.
    • Collaborate with leadership regarding staffing to ensure adequate & appropriate staffing reflective of census & patient care needs.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Operate specialized equipment competently and prepare/administer medications according to policy and procedures.
    • Demonstrate effective communication skills incorporating listening and interviewing techniques appropriate to the age of the patient.
    • Possess knowledge necessary to provide age-appropriate care and understand principles of growth and development over the life span.
    • Function as a member of a healthcare team and delegate responsibilities appropriately.
