    Geisinger is proud to offer a full-time Inpatient RN position with up to $24,000 hiring incentive for eligible candidates! The minimum hiring rate is $41.00, with increased rates for experienced individuals and up to $7 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts.     Job Description

    • Assess, plan, organize, perform, and evaluate nursing activities to meet the needs of the patient.
    • Promote adaptive responses of patients and families to achieve the highest level of patient care, promote safety, and maximize patient satisfaction.
    • Exhibit compassionate care during patient-nurse interactions.
    • Coordinate patient care and interaction of staff.
    • Meet the qualifications to provide care for patients in their assigned nursing unit.
    • Ensure the very best patient and family experience by optimizing all interactions.
    • Complete assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
    • Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
    • Formulate, coordinate, and provide a plan of care as established in unit standards including patient and family education, family needs, and discharge planning throughout hospitalization with members of the interdisciplinary team.
    • Provide direct patient care including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies according to policy and procedure.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise the plan of care based upon patient response to interventions.
    • Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members and act to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs.
    • Problem-solve, troubleshoot, and take corrective measures in the care and handling of equipment.
    • Participate in unit-based decision-making regarding the utilization of evidence-based practice.
    • Actively participate as a team member working toward team goals of the unit and organization and be accountable for unit and system-specific metrics.
    • Actively participate in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.
    • Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
    • Accountable for satisfying all job-specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.

    Schedule Details

    Full-time position (0.9 FTE - 36 hours). Night shift with every other weekend/holiday rotation. Offers self-scheduling to allow for a flexible schedule.

    Unit Overview

    BP6 is a 28-bed Medical-Surgical Remote Telemetry unit that includes a diversity of services including General Surgery, Bariatric, ENT, Urology, Gynecology, Plastic Surgery, and Trauma Surgery. The unit has many resources including a pharmacist, care manager/social worker, and scheduler to support unit-based needs. Additionally, there is a wound ostomy team and an IV team available throughout the hospital for added support. Team members benefit from a shared schedule in which they partner together to complete a final schedule based on unit needs.
