Oculoplastics Specialist

Geisinger is seeking a full-time board-certified/eligible, ASOPRS fellowship-trained specialist in Oculoplastics to fill a rewarding position in the Department of Ophthalmology at the new Healthplex in Pittston, Pennsylvania. Located near Scranton/Wilkes Barre in Northeast PA, close to the Pocono Mountains, Geisinger Eye Institute is a driven, successful, and growing multi-specialty group integrating both optometric and ophthalmologic services. Job Description

• Perform plastic and reconstructive surgery of the periorbital and facial tissues, including eyelids and eyebrows, cheeks, orbit, and lacrimal (tear) system.
• Treat conditions such as drooping eyelids (ptosis), eyelid malposition (entropion, ectropion), eyelash abnormalities, tumors of the eyelids and orbit, trauma, congenital abnormalities, thyroid eye disease, tearing problems, and blinking difficulties (blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm).
• Interview patients to obtain information such as symptoms, medical histories, and family histories. Perform and/or interpret diagnostic tests as needed.
• Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness. May prescribe or administer medications. Prepare, maintain, and review records that include patients' histories, examination findings, treatment plans, or outcomes.

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (Required)
• Licensed Medical Doctor - State of Pennsylvania
