Locums ER Physician

We are seeking a Locums ER Physician for 13 shifts per month. This position is located in a critical access facility that provides 24/7 emergency care and offers a full range of health and wellness services.

Job Description

• Ventilator management, central lines, chest tubes, trauma, ultrasound, procedural sedation, emergency cricothyroidotomy, difficult airway management, and rapid sequence intubation are required.
• The program structure includes 25 inpatient beds and 12 ER beds with current shift times being 12-hour shifts.
• The emergency department has no intensivists and receives sub-specialty support from cardiology on weekdays, with respiratory, radiology, and lab services available 24/7.
• The average census is 23 patients, with day shift providers seeing 12-25 patients and night shift providers seeing 6-10 patients.
• ED providers are required to respond to rapid response and code situations.
• The ED physician runs trauma codes, with most trauma cases transferred to a trauma center. The facility is a Trauma Level IV facility with a helipad on site for transfers.
• The electronic medical record system used is Cerner.
• There are no advanced practice clinicians (APCs) on staff.

Requirements

• Certifications required: ACLS, ATLS, and PALS if not EM boarded.
• Dedicated primary stroke center.
