    Locums ED Physician

    Join our team as a Locums ED Physician for additional coverage at a teaching hospital with 33 ED beds and a 22% admission rate. The facility is situated on a 129-acre wooded campus that includes the main hospital, a 50-bed rehabilitation hospital, an outpatient rehabilitation center, and a community health and fitness center. The health system was named one of the top 20 large community hospitals in the U.S. by Thomson Reuters in 2012.

    Job Description

    • Provide coverage for an understaffed emergency department
    • Manage approximately 40 shifts until the position is filled
    • Work in a facility with a total of 312 beds
    • Participate in shifts from 6 AM to 4 PM, 10 AM to 9 PM, 2 PM to 1 AM, and 8 PM to 6 AM (night shift required)
    • Collaborate with a team that includes 1 doctor and 1 APC on night shifts, and 2 doctors and 1 APC on swing shifts
    • Handle a census of approximately 49,000 patients per year, averaging 139 patients per day
    • Respond to trauma cases and coordinate with trauma surgeons as needed
    • Utilize Meditech EMR for patient documentation

    Requirements

    • Vent management, central lines, chest tubes, trauma, ultrasound, procedural sedation, emergency cricothyroidotomy, difficult airway management, and rapid sequence intubation experience
    • Board certified/board eligible in Emergency Medicine (must maintain certification)
    • ATLS certification (must have had ATLS training; does not need to be current)
    • Completion of moderate sedation exam for requested privileges
    • Immunization records for MMR, VZV, Hep B, Tdap
    • Flu vaccination annually between October and March
    • TB screening within the last 12 months (not required to keep current)
    • COVID-19 vaccination (two doses or waiver for religious/medical reasons)
