Georgia Medical Staffing is in need of a full-time radiologist interested in a 1-year minimum contract working for the VA in Columbia, SC.
Job Description
- Start as soon as credentialed
- Hours: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday-Friday
- On-call: 4:30 pm to 8:00 am weekdays; Weekend call: 4:30 pm Friday to 8:00 am Monday
- Contract: 1 year minimum - can extend
- Scope: General and interventional radiology procedures, including but not limited to:
- Diagnostic Radiology
- Ultrasound
- Computed Tomography (CT)
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Nuclear Medicine (Nuc Med)
- Interventional Radiography (IR)
- Provide consultation with and instruction to referring physicians regarding appropriate indications for general, ultrasound, CT, MRI, nuc med, and IR radiologic procedures so that the most expeditious and clinically appropriate work-up can be done
- Determine the appropriate course of treatment and communicate in person or by phone with the referring clinicians
- Provide review of consults/orders and next-day patient cases for a minimum of two hours daily
- Provide post-procedure evaluation and follow-up and clinical consultation regarding complications of interventional radiologic procedures
- Follow all established medication policies and procedures; no sample medications shall be provided to patients
- Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients
Administrative Responsibilities
- Estimated 5% of time not involved in direct patient care
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and meetings with committee participation as required by the facility Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee
- Attend staff meetings as required by the facility Chief of Service, Chief of Staff, or designee; communicate with COR on this requirement and report any conflicts that may interfere with compliance
- Perform ongoing peer reviews for approximately four hours per month
- Prepare for, attend, and take care of follow-up activities resulting from specialized meetings
- Complete the appropriate QM/PI documentation pertaining to all procedures, complications, and outcomes of examinations
- Follow all established patient safety and infection control standards of care; make every effort to prevent medication errors, falls, and patient injury caused by acts of commission or omission in the delivery of care
- Document all events related to patient injury, medication errors, and other breaches of patient safety in the medical record of those impacted and disclose to the patient or surrogate; notify COR of incidents as soon as practicable (but within 24 hours) and submit an entry in the VA Patient Safety Reporting System

Requirements
- Any unencumbered state license, in good standing
- Must be Board Certified Radiologist
