    Lead Psychiatrist

    The Mexia State Supported Living Center (SSLC) is seeking a Lead Psychiatrist to join an interdisciplinary team of professionals to provide clinical care to residents of the SSLC. As an SSLC clinical position, you will work at the SSLC campus with a dynamic group of staff and professionals who are dedicated to providing supports and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is a team environment where staff clinicians collaborate to provide comprehensive care and services.

    Job Description

    • Perform highly advanced psychiatric work under direct supervision of the SSLC Medical Director.
    • Direct, oversee, and/or conduct the examination and diagnoses of patients, and administer psychiatric treatment and medication as needed.
    • Administer specialized psychiatric treatments and/or procedures.
    • Direct staff and provide leadership to ensure optimal quality psychiatric treatment services for the individuals entrusted to the care of the SSLC.
    • Monitor trends and activities, prepare reports, and make recommendations for operational and services improvement as appropriate.
    • Serve as an active member of the patients' Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and provide guidance to treatment team members regarding the treatment of the patients under their care.
    • Review patient records and files in conjunction with the IDT to determine the progress, effectiveness, and appropriateness of treatment services offered.
    • Plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others, including other Psychiatrists.
    • Participate in Peer Review Committees for performance improvement as appropriate.
    • Participate in or direct, as requested, any other clinically related committee that is formed for the SSLCs to recommend guidelines and standards of care in response to changes in research literature, regulatory environment, or public health as requested by the facility Medical Director or state office Medical Services Coordinator.
    • Serve on assigned committees as required.
    • Work under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
