Neurosurgery Physician Assistant
Kaweah Health is seeking a Neurosurgery Physician Assistant to join a respectable practice, Center Neurorestoration Associates, in their delivery of care at Kaweah Health.
Job Description
- Assesses, diagnoses, plans, and implements the medical care of neurosurgical patients in collaboration with a physician.
- Functions within the full scope of licensure; accountable for the assessment and coordinated delivery and evaluation of care, which includes direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
- Performs appropriate general examinations, diagnostic tests, and other types of more specialized procedures as may be indicated by patient history and complaints, according to protocol.
- Follows up on all abnormal findings in a timely manner, responds to patient clinical needs, and refers to other providers as appropriate.
- Provides medical consultation including the performance of therapeutic procedures delegated by the supervising neurosurgery physicians, assists with various procedures, provides patient education, treatment and follow-up, and may complete daily rounds.
- Charts all information regarding the client’s examination and plans for treatment within the electronic medical record. Chart review meets quality improvement standards. Completes timely chart documentation.
- Responsibilities may include managing patients in an office, hospital, emergency, and/or perioperative setting, and will have duties as a surgical assistant, based on approved privileges.
- Provides care delivery within a team-based, patient-centered approach. Engages the patient and their family in the decision-making process regarding their care. Utilizes care team members appropriately (e.g., pharmacy, care coordinators, dieticians, etc.).
- Utilizes evidence-based practice guidelines and resources for clinical practice.
Requirements
- Two years of experience in the neurosurgery service line, including OR experience.
