Job Description
- Duke Cancer Care Affiliated program.
- Join a collegial and supportive group of five providers, including a physician and three Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).
- Enjoy an estimated 95% outpatient and 5% inpatient mix:
- Outpatient, with APPs typically managing inpatient rounding. Oncology consultations provided as needed for hospital admissions.
- The office is open from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday. Providers typically see patients from 8 AM to noon and 1 PM to 5 PM. New patient consults scheduled for 60 minutes and follow-ups for 15-30 minutes. Average patient load of 18-25 patients per day.
- Inpatient rounding by APPs for current practice patients, with admissions managed by the 24/7 hospitalist group.
- Call is currently handled by phone, 1:3 with very few calls. A triage nurse handles all incoming clinical calls. Call changes at 7 AM, with ED physicians handling phone consults and acute leukemics referred to higher levels of care.
- Weekly tumor board meetings.
- Clinical research trial portfolio with a comprehensive support team including a genetic counselor and dedicated research associate.
- Providers are assigned to three rooms, with patients roomed by an RN and comprehensive assessments performed.
- Work alongside a strong primary care team, including 10 RNs, 2 navigators, 1 RN case manager, 2 pharmacists, 1 pharmacy tech, 1 lab tech, 1 office manager, 1 clinical director, 1 social worker, 2 financial counselors, 6 clerical staff, and 1 program director.
- Our program holds prestigious accreditations from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACOS CoC), National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), and American College of Radiology Radiation Oncology Practice Accreditation (ACR ROPA).
