About the job
Orthopaedic Surgeon
We are recruiting a well-trained, board-certified/board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon with fellowship training in Total Joint Arthroplasty, including revision surgery, to join our multi-specialty orthopaedic practice. Maine General currently has four orthopaedic surgeons performing total joint replacements, and two of them are planning to retire over the next year or so. A successful candidate will inherit a busy referral base for both primary and revision total joint surgery.
The Maine General Orthopaedic Department is a hospital-employed, 10-surgeon group with fellowship training in sports medicine, hand surgery, joint replacement, spine surgery, foot and ankle surgery, orthopaedic trauma, and also has a podiatry division. Additionally, there is a non-operative sports medicine fellowship consisting of five fellowship-trained non-operative sports medicine physicians and two fellows annually. There is a great opportunity for teaching and education with the fellows and the family practice residents. The selected candidate will join the call pool with 10 other surgeons, allowing for a great work-life balance! Income base is guaranteed with a productivity bonus. MaineGeneral offers an array of benefits to include educational loan repayment, CME, paid time off, relocation reimbursement, as well as many others.
This is a unique opportunity for any candidate to practice orthopaedic surgery in new, state-of-the-art facilities while living in a beautiful and safe setting. Augusta is located in scenic central Maine and is a short drive away from ski resorts, lakes and rivers, award-winning golf courses, abundant hiking trails, and the beautiful rugged Maine coast.
