Job Description

• Under minimum supervision, assist the Director of Surgical Services with planning, organizing, delivering, and coordinating patient care.
• Serve as a professional circulating RN-OR for surgery patients in accordance with the surgical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures.
• Use principles of aseptic technique to establish and maintain a sterile field.
• Check updated schedule each morning and prepare supplies and equipment.
• Reinforce and clarify physician instructions and explanation of procedures to patients.
• Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN.
• Perform the role of a scrub nurse if needed; float to other areas within Surgical Services if needed.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina (or compact license).
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required).
• ACLS and PALS required (or must be obtained by end of orientation).
