Job Description

• Provide direct patient care to critically ill adult patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
• Coordinate total nursing care for patients, participate in patient and family teaching, act as a patient advocate, and work as part of a team with ancillary and non-nursing departments.
• Assess the patient's condition and nursing care needs.
• Set goals and prescribe appropriate nursing interventions to meet physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of patients.
• Develop individual nursing care plans.
• Implement care plans and make revisions as needed.
• Evaluate patient care outcomes.
• Collaborate with physicians and other hospital employees.
• Administer medications, treatments, and therapies.
• Communicate with patients and oversee provision of care.
• Provide patients and/or family with instruction and education relevant to their condition.
• Accurately document nursing observations, assessments, medications, treatments, and other care given.

Requirements

• Associate's degree required
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire
• Registered Nurse licensed to work in the state of Kentucky
