Medical Director - Neonatology

Job Description

• Provide expert neonatal care at Carilion Clinic Children’s Hospital and Lewis Gale Medical Center.
• Manage and lead NICU operations as Medical Director or participate as Associate Medical Director.
• Oversee advanced NICU services including high-frequency ventilation, whole body cooling, and nitric oxide therapy.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary pediatric and maternal-fetal medicine specialists.
• Support medical education initiatives with students and residents.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives and participate in research.
• Provide clinical coverage, including day shifts, on-call, and weekend duties as needed.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and participate in leadership meetings.
• This is a permanent, full-time position requiring residency in the local area.

Requirements

• Board Eligible (within 5 years of residency) or Board Certified in Neonatology.
• Neonatal leadership experience required for the Medical Director role.
• Clean malpractice and medical license history (highly preferred).
• Must be eligible for a Virginia medical license or willing to obtain one.
• Willingness to relocate if not already in the area.
• DEA must be obtained prior to start.

License and Certification Requirements

• Board Certified (BC) or Board Eligible (BE) in Neonatology.
• Virginia medical license or willingness to obtain.
• Clean malpractice history is highly preferred.
• DEA registration required before starting.
