    Physical Therapist

    Join our dynamic team as a Physical Therapist at MercyOne Dyersville, a critical access hospital. This position primarily involves outpatient care with intermittent inpatient acute, swing, and skilled populations.

    Job Description

    • Plans, administers, implements, and evaluates physical therapy for all appropriate programs and services within the Dyersville PM & R department for all patient age groups.
    • Completes patient evaluations and treatment using appropriate evaluation tools for diagnosis.
    • Identifies goals with patients and follows physician orders, seeking changes in orders when appropriate.
    • Supervises and gives direction to support staff and physical therapist assistants (PTA) per state regulations.
    • Completes documentation on the day of service, ensuring it matches charges and addresses goals and progress of patients.
    • Follows state and regulatory guidelines for recertifications and charges.
    • Demonstrates professionalism according to the Code of Ethics and supports Mercy's mission and values.
    • Communicates effectively with staff using voicemail and email to streamline processes.
    • Maintains organization in the work area and prioritizes tasks effectively.
    • Utilizes technology to decrease duplication of documents and is proficient in Word, fax, and email.

    Requirements

    • Must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) by the State of Iowa to practice as a Physical Therapist.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
    • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to effectively work with other hospital employees and guests.

    Working Conditions and Physical Demands

    • Frequent intense emotional interaction with clients is common.
    • Job requires continuous standing and walking (80% or more of work time).
    • Frequent physical assistance is required, involving lifting, reaching, bending, and stooping.
    • Ability to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing approximately 50 lbs.
    • Frequent contact with people in severe pain.
