    What You'll Do As a PTA within Genesis Health System (a MercyOne ministry):

    • Deliver skilled physical-therapy treatments under a licensed PT's plan of care in acute, post-acute, and community settings.
    • Independently progress exercises, gait-training, and ADL programs per state PTA practice guidelines.
    • Assist the PT with periodic reassessments and update goals based on patient performance.
    • Accurately complete daily notes, progress summaries, and discharge documentation in the EHR—timely & audit-ready.
    • Provide occasional guidance to PTA students/clinical interns with PT support.
    • Partner with nurses, OTs, SLPs, respiratory therapists, physicians, and case managers to maximize functional outcomes.

    Requirements

    • Education: Associate degree (CAPTE-accredited PTA program).
    • Licensure: Iowa PTA license at hire; eligible for Illinois license (obtain within 6 months).
    • Certification: BLS/CPR within 6 months of start.
    • Tech Skills: Basic Word & spreadsheet competency; comfortable with mobile charting.
    • Soft Skills: Clear communication, patient motivation, willingness to navigate multiple care settings.

    Nice-to-Haves

    • Prior experience in any of the following: acute rehab, outpatient ortho, SNF, home health.
    • Familiarity with OASIS or rehab outcome measures (FIM, CARE, etc.).
    • Bilingual (Spanish, Bosnian, or ASL).

    Schedule & Working Conditions

    Full time 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE).
