    Registered Nurse CV Operating Room First Assistant

    Job Description

    • You will function at the direction under the appropriate supervision of the attending surgeon.
    • You will practice with limitations of preparation, experience, and within the scope allowed by the hospital.
    • You will assist with maintaining the patient's expected physiologic responses to surgery.
    • You will communicate and work collaboratively with all members of the perioperative team.
    • You will wear proper surgical attire, open sterile packs, instruments, and supplies for each procedure.
    • You will monitor the sterile field during the procedure and take appropriate measures to ensure integrity.
    • You will initiate corrective action for any break in technique.

    Requirements

    • You must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing OR RNFAs practicing prior to January 1, 2020, are not required to have a baccalaureate degree: Professional Associate or Diploma Nursing Program required.
    • You must have successfully completed an RNFA program that meets AORN standards for RN first assistant education and is accepted by the National Assistant at Surgery Certification (NASC).
    • You must have a minimum of 2 years of OR experience.
    • You should possess your Registered Nurse License to practice as a professional RN in the state of Texas or an Active Multi-State RN Compact License. If you have a Compact License, you will be required to obtain a Texas RN License within 90 days of hire.
    • You should have a current BLS Certification.
    • You should have a current ACLS Certification.
