    Clinical Nurse Specialist

    The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) demonstrates an advanced level of professional competence in a specialized area of nursing practice. The CNS influences care outcomes by providing expert consultation and implementing improvements in patient care delivery. Specifically, the CNS leads in the development of nursing practice that incorporates established national specialty practice guidelines, regulatory requirements, an interdisciplinary framework, outcomes from nursing and healthcare research, best practices changes in healthcare that impact patient care delivery, and advances in technology that support efficient and effective patient care. The key roles of the CNS include practitioner, educator, leader, consultant, and researcher.

    • Demonstrate an advanced level of professional competence in a specialized area of nursing practice.

    Requirements

    • Master's Degree in Nursing with clinical focus from an accredited school of nursing.
    • Oregon Registered Nurse License upon hire.
    • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
    • Must meet three years of experience in area of specialty as follows:
      • ED: 3 years clinical experience in ED.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in teaching adult learners.
    • Clinical Nurse Specialist experience.
