Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant

We have an immediate need for a locum contract cardiothoracic physician assistant in Upstate New York! Work 24-hour shifts and/or 4 10s per week! Excellent scheduling options! This one is going to go quick!

The role is a full continuum of care position with ample OR time, ICU, pre and post-operative care. The contract length shall be a 6-month contract to start and is a full-time 40-hour work week minimum!

Job Description

• Must be BC/BE with NYS License
• EPIC EMR
• 1:5 to 1:6 call schedule for 24/7 in-house coverage
• Endoscopic vein and artery harvesting
• OR first and second assisting
• Some outpatient clinic responsibility
• History and physical exams
• Rounding on floor and ICU patients
• Census management
• Weeknight/weekend call coverage (floor calls and emergency surgical procedures)
• Inpatient consults
• Bedside procedures (thoracentesis, central/arterial line placement, chest tube insertion/removal, etc.)
• Supportive and congenial working environment

Requirements

• Licensed or eligible to practice in the state of New York
• 1 - 2+ years of surgical and/or cardiac experience
• BLS certification required
• Experience required in endoscopic vein harvesting
• Be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• NCCPA certification
