Student Nurse Technician

The Student Nurse Technician is responsible for assisting the designated RN Preceptor and additional RNs with care of all age groups within the Standard of Care set by Parkview Health and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act. The Student Nurse Technician, under the direct supervision of the designated RN Preceptor, participates in delegated patient care including vital signs, activities of daily living, assisting with treatments, and assisting in basic IV care. This individual shares the responsibility of managing resources, supplies, and equipment within the department, and assists with coordination of patient care activities and departmental services.

Job Description

• Assist the designated RN Preceptor and additional RNs with patient care for all age groups
• Participate in delegated patient care including vital signs and activities of daily living
• Assist with treatments and basic IV care
• Manage resources, supplies, and equipment within the department
• Assist with coordination of patient care activities and departmental services

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in an LPN, ASN, or BSN program and be in good academic standing
• Current CPR BLS certification required
• Previous experience or program of study in direct patient care is preferred (i.e. CNA, PCT, paramedic, military medic, mental health technician, home health aide)
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of computer skills and applications
• Ability to multi-task and work with minimal oversight
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds
• Must be able to work 48 hours in a four-week schedule period
