    Medical Assistant

    The Medical Assistant performs both clinical and administrative duties that directly support efficient clinic flow, effective and safe clinic operations, and excellent patient experience. The Medical Assistant supports patient care by taking medical histories, accurately capturing and documenting patient vital signs, requesting and updating patient medical records, filing, communicating with patients, and providing documentation for patients or members of the healthcare team while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. The Medical Assistant's primary responsibilities may vary based on state regulations.

    Job Description

    • Greet and escort patients to exam rooms, gather patient history, take and record vital signs, prepare patients for examination, and document all information in the patient medical record.
    • Support delivery of high-quality patient experience through excellent customer service and communication with patients, families, and other care providers while ensuring a safe patient care environment.
    • Provide assistance to physician and/or advanced practice provider in preparing and conducting medical exams and office procedures under direct guidance and supervision of physician and advanced practice provider.
    • Perform applicable medical procedures, collect and prepare laboratory specimens, administer injections/immunizations, and perform venipuncture, as allowed by state regulations.
    • Communicate information and instructions to patients as directed by physician, advanced practice provider, or nursing staff and ensure patient's understanding of the information.
    • Assist with scheduling of tests, treatments, and follow-up appointments, and communicate test results to patients.
    • Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, and prepare sterilization as required.
    • Respond to calls and requests for referrals and appointments, triage and process messages, and requests from patients, clinic staff, referring physicians, and pharmacies. Maintain patient files, records, and other information.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Diploma from an accredited program for Medical Assistants required.
    • MA certification required; if not currently certified, certification must be obtained within 6 months to 1 year dependent on state requirements.
    • 1+ years' experience in an office-based setting preferred.
    • CPR certification required.
    • Must have the ability to follow universal precautions.
    • Ability to maintain OSHA standards and HIPAA regulations.
    • Bilingual English and Spanish speaking is required.

    The expected pay for the position ranges from $22.00 - $27.88 per hour. The actual pay range will be computed based on years of relevant experience.
