Registered Nurse (RN)
The Registered Nurse (RN) duties are to assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. May advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.
Job Description
- Maintain and possess a State Registered Nursing license.
- Coordinate maternal/fetal care, including referring to appropriate centers/physicians/facilities such as: Fetal Care Center, Shriners, pediatric urology, cleft lip/palate programs, Angel Watch, Utah Down Syndrome Foundation, fetal treatment centers in various states.
- Act as a liaison between MFM, L&D, and NICU.
- Triage incoming referrals and work with schedulers to ensure patients are scheduled appropriately.
- Call lab results to patients and send reports to referring providers.
- Attend and participate in the MFM provider meetings, take minutes.
- Maintain records of birth defects and send reports to the Utah Health Department.
- Research where to have genetic studies completed and the components involved.
- Help maintain monthly physician clinic and call schedules.
- Perform testing and report all results to physicians as well as documenting all findings in patient's medical record.
- Assist the physicians with patient visits and exams.
- Assist the physician with procedures, and properly label and send specimens to appropriate labs.
- Perform medication administration as necessary using universal precautions and document appropriately in the patient's medical record (i.e., time, amount, route of administration, site of administration, and any patient reaction).
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with and demonstrate a caring attitude toward patients and their families.
- Treat all patients and their families with dignity and respect.
- Act in a non-directive, non-judgmental manner recognizing an individual's religious, ethical, and moral opinion/belief.
- Use standards of patient satisfaction as a measure of effectiveness.
- Follow universal precautions and OSHA standards.
- Perform other assigned duties as directed.
Requirements
- Must possess a current/valid license as a Registered Nurse in the state that they are providing services.
- Maintain and possess a state RN license.
- Must maintain CPR certification.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Labor and Delivery and/or MFM experience is strongly preferred.
