    Newborn Hearing Screen Technician

    Join our team as a Newborn Hearing Screen Technician in Columbia, TN. This per diem position offers the opportunity to work closely with newborns and their families, ensuring the importance of hearing screenings is communicated effectively.

    Job Description

    • Conduct newborn hearing screens, usually in a new mom's hospital room, and help educate parents about the importance of the screen using video and printed tools.
    • Enter patient data and validate hearing screens as needed.
    • Help confirm or reschedule outpatient appointments.
    • Follow up on any equipment issues and train new staff.
    • Perform newborn hearing screens.
    • Verify insurance information with parent/guardian.
    • Document hearing screen results accurately.
    • Follow protocol for timely submission of billing.
    • Adhere to protocols related to security and identification of infants.
    • Follow infection control, safety awareness, and other hospital, company, and program policies.
    • Recognize potential problems and obtain assistance in a timely manner when necessary.
    • Complete company and hospital orientation or classes, including patient privacy training.
    • Complete and maintain employee health requirements.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
    • Flexibility to work on weekends and national holidays required.
    • Entry-level experience in healthcare preferred, with one to three months of related experience.
    • Experience working with infants preferred.
    • Experience in a hospital setting preferred.

    Skills/Abilities

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Computer proficiency and ability to perform accurate data entry.
    • Ability to prioritize daily tasks and assignments.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to stand and walk frequently (95% of shift).
    • Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds frequently.
