Job Description

• Provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population.
• Organize and conduct occupational therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation.
• Direct patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance.
• Facilitate the learning of skills essential for adaptation and productivity to diminish or correct pathology.
• Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel as necessary.
• Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, timely clinical and billing documentation requirements.
• Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other related meetings.
• Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address comprehensive patient needs.
• Consult with other members of the rehabilitation team to select appropriate therapeutic regimens.
• Adapt programs and/or plans of care according to individual patient needs.
• Promote a safe environment and enforce the elimination of fire and safety hazards.
• Order supplies and equipment as necessary.
• Clean, maintain, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment as necessary.
• Ensure that patients and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring atmosphere.
• Screen, examine, and evaluate patients to establish diagnoses and design plans of care.
• Develop appropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with patients and caregivers.
• Implement occupational therapy treatment plans and complete all related documentation.
• Provide services including application of therapeutic techniques in various areas such as cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination, mobility, activities of daily living, and more.
• Design, fabricate, fit, and apply adaptive devices; train patients in their use.
• Instruct patients in skills required for participation in functional activities and evaluate their progress.
• Perform routine reexaminations as needed to modify or progress treatment plans.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards.
• Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
• Valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license as required in the state of practice.
• Valid driver's license or reliable transportation to and from patients' residences.

Posted Salary Range

USD $47.00 - USD $63.00 /Hr.
